Home >> news Lanzarote Dealer's MeetingFINAL REPORT LANZAROTE MEETING 2011JIMMY LEWIS - QUICKBLADE The first European Jimmy Lewis meeting on Lanzarote Canary island organised by JLID - JIMMY LEWIS Europe customer service is just gone, and in first time we would give a very special thank to every dealers that joined our dream,and to the incredible Jimmy Lewis test centre stuff there located. More than thirty dealers from different countries, Holland, Spain, Portugal, Germany and Italy have gotten the opportunity to test all the new 2012 Jimmy Lewis SUP and SURF collection, and they even focused attention on all QUICK BLADE full-carbon and Fiberglas, from California, and the powerful and artistic WHISKEY JACK wooden made paddles, from Montana. During meeting days we had very hard condition about waves period and size. We got every days waves from five to eight feet, and the last day, to give us a special remember, we surfed waves really close to ten feet. By the way, the most important thing was about weather, and the endless summer on the island. The climate was every days so warm, with water temperature around 22 °C and air temperature between 23 - 25 °C. Expert and beginner riders shared the same spot for a surf, and sup all day long session. The " most wanted " spot was " EL BARCO " directly in front of Famara pier, and very close to our surf house. All people, were able to have long surf and sup session, in front of Jimmy Lewis Famara test centre and the famous Famara beach was the most relaxing and easy spot. When tide changed condition, we switched from THE BARCO to THE PLAJA, to train ourselves facing different situation. Only for expert riders LA SANTA, one of the most hard spot of the island was theatre of breathtaking session. Many boards are planned to be used in a lot of situation, first of all the new BABY BOMB 10x28 for 125 litres and all QWAD series, I mean 9.7x31 for 154 liters,9.1x30 for 140 liters and 8.7x29 for 125 liters and every riders were able to change board during any session. At sunset we had an informal meeting to share impression and conclusion to be communicated directly to Jimmy personally by skype. THE BARCO, just in front of our Famara test centre was the most interesting spot because the huge space available, and about the opportunity to catch waves staying not too much crowed, all together, and definitely in relax. Very interesting was to see riding the same wave, different boards model in the same time, because, as Jimmy is usually says, he makes special boards for normal people, such all of us are used to feel himself after a very good wave session in Famara. Sometimes we saw on the same wave, a MANO 9.0 approaching the critical session of the wave close to a 8.7 QWAD and not too far a 10.6 or an 11.0 cruise control, and even a STRIKER 8.11 or 9.5 because every Jimmy Lewis boards have been made in perfect sea feeling. As for the paddles literally swamped the QuickBlade Kanaha AC 100 and 90 SQ / IN full Carbon and Fiberglass from 100 SQ / IN.In particular, there have been many trials that have shown the great manoeuvrability 'surface more' small from 36 to 90 with SSI.Thanks to this area many paddlers were able to stay in water over a very long time without any problem. Even WhiskeyJack were strained during the whole meeting week, with the OCHO from 100 SQ / IN found to be the most 'suitable for the wave. Lastly the difficult life they have had to perform the Leash ... Coil models is very encouraged that the more 'traditional ankle or below the knee from 9 feet in length and 6'5 mm in diameter. As for life outside the valuable SURF SUP-Test Team of the Center lead by Alexander Lovo and assisted by his two trust Luis and Richard has made possible the development of some excursions to the many volcanoes of the island, and a visit to the Cesar Manrique Foundation while for the most "physical stress" Yoga sessions were held very much appreciated. The Closing Party Meeting held at Lagomar was the icing on the cake of a wonderful experience for everyone and we thank the participants in a really sincere.A little 'numbers ....During the five-day meeting, thirty people from four different countries have spent at sea an average of 5-6 hours a day.
